CNRS-IOGS works in fundamental and applied optics, and important research lines focus on cold atoms, atom interferometry, and quantum optics. The Institut d'Optique has expertise in matter-wave interferometry, atom inter-ferometry in 0-g environment, atom lasers, atoms in disordered potentials, 1D and quasi-1D gases on atom chips, quantum atom optics with metastable he-lium, particle counting technology. A proof-of-principle experiment showing levitation of atoms using Bragg pulses and interference between different trajectories has been recently realized at CNRS-IOGS. Glass/glass and glass/metal bonding as well as integration of pumping technologies are important technological targets in relation with miniaturization of experimental setups in atom optics, presently pursued at CNRS-IOGS.
